In this tutorial I will to provide you with complete instructions on how to install WordPress on your hosting account. This type of installation is also known as manual because I will download the installation package from the official website, then upload the files and finally complete the installation. During the process I will also create a new database to be used for the installation. This is because, as you may know WordPress is database driven application and the database itself is a huge part of the application.
Before starting with WordPress installation I would like to say a few words about the application. It is well known as most popular blogging platform. The content can easily be managed from the admin panel. There are also a large number of great plugins that are developed to extend the standard functionality of the application. You can download and install plugins for almost everything you can think of. If you need more information about some feature, please search our website.
Now let’s start with the installation. The first step is to download the installation package from the official website. Below is placed a direct link to reach that page:
When the download is finished, you will find a new .ZIP file. You may extract it following this sequence:
Right click – > Extract to …
My personal suggestion is to extract the package into a separate folder which can easily be found later. When done, open the folder. If everything is fine, you should see the files and folders of the default WordPress installation package. Here is an example of what you may see on your screen:
The next step is the upload. This means to transfer the files from the archive on your local device to your hosting account. To do so you may use FTP. For example, I usually use Mozilla FireFox to transfer files. Here is how the interface of a connected FTP client looks like:
